Chris Krupinski - Biography

The Artist

Chris Krupinski has devoted her life to painting. After discovering watercolor in the mid-1980s, she quickly found the medium that would become her lifelong passion. Although her studies in art education and graphic design provided a solid technical foundation, it is the discipline of painting every day that has shaped her work most profoundly. Years of consistent practice have allowed her to develop a style that combines technical excellence with thoughtful design and expressive color.

Her accomplishments reflect a long and distinguished career in watercolor. She is a Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercolor Society, a Gold Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, a Distinguished Master of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, a Master Signature Member of American Women Artists, and an Elected Member of Allied Artists of America, among other professional organizations. She has received more than 300 national and regional awards, has been featured in numerous leading art publications, and has exhibited internationally in China, Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, and Russia. Her work continues to be recognized for its technical mastery, expressive use of color, and distinctive artistic voice.

Chris's watercolors are created with special consideration to detail. By focusing much of her attention to the smallest detail, the viewer is drawn into the intricacies of her work. Dynamic light and shadow treatments are prominent statements in her paintings. The play of lights and darks develop effective abstract design. Emphasizing these two elements has enabled her to create powerfully expressive still lifes and bold compositions.
